Read the terms first. Check how the welcome offer defines a new customer, for example someone who hasn't held the bank's card within a set period; how much you must spend, and by when, after approval; whether you must register first; the rebate cap and when it's credited; which transactions don't count, such as some bill payments or top-ups; and the annual fee, late charges and interest.
